(Slay News) – The streaming service Hulu has passed on the Hillary Clinton TV show “Rodham” after the series spent two years in development.
The project was based on a book that envisioned an alternate universe where failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton never married Bill Clinton and saw her future soar.
According to Variety, “’Rodham’ — published in May 2020, and a New York Times bestseller — imagined an alternative universe in which Hillary Rodham Clinton met and dated Bill Clinton at Yale Law School, but never married him.
“Instead of the life Clinton has actually led, in ‘Rodham,’ she goes on to thrive as a Northwestern University professor, and launches an eventual presidential run in 2016.
“Real-world events — such as rape accusations against Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump as a significant figure in politics — also play out in Sittenfeld’s novel, but in vastly altered ways.”
The book ends with Hillary becoming the first woman elected president of the United States in 2016 beating Republican Jeb Bush.
Terry McAuliffe was her running mate.
But that horror show is not dead yet because two Hollywood stars have signed on to play Hillary at various stages of her life.
They are attempting to shop the project to other streaming services but with Netflix cracking down on wokeism and Obama and Harry and Megan finding rough sailing for their ventures, this should be a hard sell.
According to the Free Beacon,
“Actors Claire Danes, 43, and Dakota Fanning, 28, have already signed on to play Hillary at various stages of her life.
“The project, which will be written and produced by former House of Cards writer-producer Sarah Treem, is currently being shopped to other streaming platforms.”
Variety said this when the deal was announced two years ago:
Hulu has optioned the rights to Curtis Sittenfeld’s alternative history book “Rodham,” which takes place in a world in which Hillary Rodham never married Bill Clinton.
The series is described as telling the story of an ambitious young woman, developing her extraordinary mind in the latter part of the 20th century, moving from idealism to cynicism and all the way back again.
Sarah Treem is attached to write and executive produce the project.
“The Handmaid’s Tale” executive producer Warren Littlefield will also executive produce “Rodham” via The Littlefield Company along with Sittenfeld.
Fox 21 Television Studios, where Littlefield is under an overall deal, will produce.
Hulu has officially passed on 'Rodham,' a project that envisioned an alternate universe in which failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton never married prolific philanderer Bill Clinton.
