(Slay News) – Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-M) Republican challenger Cecily Davis has made her move after the radical Democrat was booed off stage during a Somali music festival in her home state of Minnesota over the weekend.
As Slay News previously reported, viral videos emerged online showing Somalia-born Omar booed and heckled by an angry crowd of thousands of mostly Somalians.
Appearing on “Fox & Friends First,” Davis said she was “not shocked” that Omar was booed by her hometown crowd as her policies are unpopular.
“Her policies are very unpopular to those in her own community,” Davis said.
“I am not shocked that they booed her.
“She’s very unpopular among the people of Somalia and Minneapolis. You know what?
“They’ve decided that they are no longer going to operate as a monolith.
“They recognize that she does not represent them, and they are ready for change,” she said.
“They are looking for a champion who actually represents their conservative values here in congressional district five.”
According to The New York Post:
Video from Saturday night’s event featuring Somali singer Suldaan Seeraar showed Omar (D-Minn.), the first Somali American elected to Congress, walk onto the stage with her husband, Tim Mynett.
The crowd at the Target Center promptly unleashed a torrent of boos that lasted for more than a minute.
Others in the mostly Somali audience shouted “Get out” and some yelled “Get the f–k out of here.”
Omar, a member of the progressive “Squad” that includes Bronx and Queens Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), tried to calm the unruly gathering.
“OK, OK, OK, OK, OK, we don’t have all night,” Omar said as she made a “tamp it down” gesture with her hands, the video shows.
