(Slay News) – New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman has a weird relationship with former President Donald Trump. The two go way back to the old New York tabloid days. Maggie did numerous stories about Trump during his time in office and has a new book out about Trump’s life.
The book is called ‘Confidence Man’ and it chronicles Trump’s rise from real estate mogul to the presidency. She sat for three interviews with Trump for the book although Trump has ripped it and her of late.
Maggie went on ‘The View’ and Trump’s political comeback came up. Maggie said she thinks Trump will run and made Whoopi Goldberg groan when she discussed Trump’s probable pick for Vice President.
“There are a couple of people whose names get mentioned and the one who gets mentioned the most by people close to him is Tim Scott from South Carolina, the senator.
“And then Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who is possibly the next governor of Arkansas.”
Whoopi Goldberg groaned at the mention of the future governor of Arkansas.
“I didn’t mean to cause that. I’m sorry,” Haberman said causing Whoopi to say,
“It just came up out of my system.”
Haberman said of a Trump run again earlier:
“I think he’s backed himself into a corner where he has to run.
“I think that he needs the protections that running for president would afford him in combating investigations that he calls a ‘witch hunt.’
“And it is the way that he fundraises and makes money.
“So much of his identity now is about being a politician.
“So, I expect that he will run.
“That doesn’t mean that even if he declares a candidacy, he will stay in the whole time.”
Sarah would be a strong choice. She is a fighter and announced she beat cancer a few weeks ago.
“Today, I underwent successful surgery to remove my thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes and by the grace of God I am now cancer-free.
“I want to thank the Arkansas doctors and nurses for their world-class care, as well as my family and friends for their love, prayers, and support.
“This experience has been a reminder that whatever battle you may be facing, don’t lose heart.
“As governor, I will never quit fighting for the people of our great state.”
