(Big League Politics) – The Justice Department is creating a new politicized unit to investigate alleged “domestic terrorism,” and from initial descriptions of the organization it’ll be highly focused on the supposed threat posed by right-wing extremists.
“We face an elevated threat from domestic violent extremists – that is, individuals in the United States who seek to commit violent criminal acts in furtherance of domestic social or political goals,” Matthew Olsen, the assistant attorney general of the DOJ’s National Security Division, said in a Senate committee hearing Tuesday.
“We have seen a growing threat from those who are motivated by racial animus, as well as those who ascribe to extremist anti-government and anti-authority ideologies,” said Olson of the organization’s premise.
During the same hearing, assistant director for the FBI’s national security division went on to identify a supposed serious threat from neo-nazi types to the public.
“Racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists advocating for the superiority of the white race and anti-government or anti-authority violent extremists … present the most lethal threat,” said Jill Sanborn.
FBI crime data regarding hate crimes has actually indicated that White Americans are considerably less likely to perpetrate hate crimes than other demographic groups, and among the groups most likely to be targeted in acts of violent hatred.
The Department of Justice has ramped up criminal investigations of citizens it’s insinuated are engaged in terrorism following the January 6th riot, sometimes using shaky evidence and painting a broad brush to categorize conservatives as terrorists. Civil liberties have long identified threats to rights and freedoms stemming from labeling dissent as “terrorism,” with Biden’s DOJ already having been caught red-handed lying to slander parents who oppose critical race theory at the behest of an anti-white national school board association.
