(Slay News) – Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz shut down a heckler on his flight into Houston Thursday over gun control and school safety policies. (See Video Below)
Ted and the rest of the passengers were grabbing their luggage to exit the plane when a man turned on his camera and started heckling Cruz. Big mistake as Ted, and a passenger or two, shut the heckler down. The heckler said:
“We’re in Houston? I thought we were going to Cancun. Senator, thank you for everything you’ve done since Uvalde. All those podcast episodes must have raised a lot of money for you.”
Ted informed the heckler about his proposed school safety bill that was blocked by Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn.
The heckler didn’t buy it and asked Cruz if he knew any of the names of the Uvalde school shooting victims.
“I do. And ask why Chris Murphy objected and stopped the biggest school safety bill that’s ever passed yesterday.”
The heckler continued his rude badgering until a fellow passenger told the heckler to let Cruz “fly in peace.”
Cruz then shut down the heckler with:
“You don’t care about the facts.
“You’re a partisan, that’s OK.”
From Fox News:
A pair of senators clashed on the Senate floor Wednesday over a school safety bill, with the Republican senator quipping if the Democrat “just shut his mouth,” then both of their measures would be law.
Senators Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Chris Murphy, D-Conn., got into a heated exchange over the Texas senator’s bill after the Connecticut senator objected to Cruz’s movement to bring his bill, the Securing Our Schools Act of 2022, up for a vote.
“What we just saw on this floor was stunning. I am genuinely at a loss for words,” Cruz said. “This bill is common sense.
There is not a constituent in Texas, or Nevada, or Connecticut, if you asked would it be a good thing to have more police officers keeping our kids safe, they’d say ‘of course, it would.’”
Cruz put Murphy on blast over his objection to his bill, saying he heard Murphy would be blocking the legislation while noting that the Democrat “styles himself the leading advocate of gun control in the U.S. Senate.”
The Texas Republican said Democrats haven’t told him why they are objecting to his bill and that he was “genuinely looking forward to” hearing Murphy’s remarks.
