(Slay News) – Dr. Deborah Birx, the former White House COVID response coordinator, has admitted that she and Dr. Anthony Fauci “overplayed the vaccines.”
In a bombshell admission during an interview with Fox News, Birx revealed that Fauci and herself “knew” that the COVID-19 vaccinations “were not going to protect against infection.”
“I knew these vaccines were not going to protect against infection,” Birx told Fox News’s “Your World” on Friday.
“And I think we overplayed the vaccines.
“And it made people then worry that it’s not going to protect against severe disease and hospitalization.”

The Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines were granted emergency use authorization in late 2020 to prevent symptomatic COVID-19.
They were promoted by many health officials, including both Birx and Fauci.
“This is one of the most highly-effective vaccines we have in our infectious disease arsenal,” Birx said on an ABC podcast at the time.
“And so that’s why I’m very enthusiastic about the vaccine.”
She made no mention of concerns that vaccines might not protect against infection.
Fauci also helped lead the U.S. pandemic response along with Birx and once said that vaccinated people would not get infected.
“What was true two years ago, a year and a half ago, changes because the original ancestral strain did not at all have the transmission capability that we’re dealing with with the omicron sublineages, particularly BA. 5,” Fauci said on Fox.
“So the vaccine does protect some people, not 95 percent, from getting infected, from getting symptoms, and getting severe disease.
“It does a much better job at protecting a high percentage of people from progressing from severe disease.”
He said that vaccines with updated compilations, which are expected to debut in the fall, are necessary.
“We need vaccines that are better,” he said.
“That are better because of the breadth and the durability because we know that immunity wanes over several months.
“And that’s the reason why we have boosters.
“But also, we need vaccines that protect against infection.”
Birx has made several stunning admissions of late.
Earlier this week, she told the Daily Mail that COVID-19 “came out of the box ready to infect” when it hit Wuhan, China in 2019.
She also admitted that it may have been created by Chinese scientists who were “working on coronavirus vaccines.”
As Fox News’s Jesse Watters lays out, Birx admitted in her new book that she and Fauci were essentially shooting from the hip when it came to national directives such as “two weeks to stop the spread,” and social distancing requirements.
According to Watters, Birx “admitted to making things up,” adding that she and Fauci “were lying to the president and to the American people about their COVID protocols.”
In her book, Birx explains how she and Fauci came up with the claim that would take “15 days to stop the spread.”
She admits that Fauci and herself tricked the Trump administration into following their made-up directives.
“No sooner had we convinced the Trump administration to implement our version of the two-week shutdown than I was trying to figure out how to extend it,” Birx writes.
“So that 15 days to slow the spread was just a sneaky way to get their hooks into us, so they could lock us down for longer,” Watters opines.
“And if you dared to leave your house, Birx told us, the only way to stay safe was to social distance.”
To that end, Birx writes that she “I had settled on 10 (feet) knowing that even that was too many, but I figured that ten would at least be palatable for most Americans – high enough to allow for most gatherings of immediate family but not enough for large dinner parties and, critically, large weddings, birthday parties, and other mass social events…”
