During a gathering of his supporters, President Joe Biden recounted an incident where he engaged in a discussion with fellow leaders during a G-7 summit.
“Right after I was elected I went to a G-7 meeting,” the president said.
He added, “I sat down and said, ‘America is back!’ and Mitterand from Germany — I mean France, looked at me and said, ‘How long you back for?’”
Biden tells crowd he recently met with Mitterrand, former French president who died in 1996.

Biden seemed to be alluding to Francois Mitterrand, a former French president who passed away in 1996.
Nonetheless, the president of France at the time of the mentioned meeting is Emmanuel Macron.
Biden has previously asserted that he had conversed with individuals years prior to the purported discussion.
In 2022, he asserted that he had “spoken to” the doctor who invented insulin, although the doctor had already passed away before Biden’s birth.
