Protesters in support of Palestine gathered in the nation’s capital on Saturday evening, causing a commotion outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Footage recorded by the Daily Caller depicts a sizable crowd of demonstrators rallying outside the Washington Hilton hotel, where the annual event for the White House press corps was taking place. Code Pink, a left-leaning activist organization, was said to have coordinated the protest, directing participants to pass through Kalorama Park in order to reach the hotel, as stated on the group’s website.
The protestors gathered in response to the dinner allegedly becoming a “platform that celebrates and endorses the administration’s actions” and that the “media perpetuates anti-Palestinian narratives and ignores Israeli war crimes.”
The Correspondents’ Dinner is viewed by the Code Pink website as a mere celebration and approval of the administration’s decisions, rather than a display of journalism. This is seen as complicity. Shocking new footage catches protesters banging on drums and yelling chants such as, “Shame, shame, shame on you, for all the terror that you do.”
